Todd's Memorial Day Flyby

Todd took the camera with him when he flew Monday morning for the VFW Memorial Day ceremony in Athens. He didn't take any pictures of it, though. LOL He got a few other good ones.

Rockin' the Docks - Memorial Day 2008

We took the boat out on Saturday for Rockin' the Docks down in Lenoir City. We started out by going to Praeter Flats for awhile to anchor before heading down to the dam. Will and Todd did a little swimming - with the water being 73, you can bet your bottom dollar that my bottom stayed in the boat.

We now know that Will's not afraid to jump off the boat, either. :)

After the boys got their fill of swimming, we pulled up the anchor and headed down to the dam. The drive took less than 20 minutes and cost about $12. Dang gas prices.

It was still pretty crowded, so the high gas prices at the docks aren't keeping too many people away.

The neighbors all decided for various reasons not to go this year. We called a couple folks from the base and didn't hear from them, either. We ended up cruising around to find some people to tie up with. Steve's friends, Scott, Red and Howard were all out in their boats, so we ended up tying up with them.

Will got the biggest kick out of the boats names. When we told him Howard's Carver three-sixty SS was named "More Than Pickles" Will laughed and laughed. He kept saying "big boat's name Pickles".

Once we were situated, it was time to fire up the grill. Lawdy, that Weber Q is worth it's weight in gold. YUMMO. It was awesome after all these years to have burgers and dogs on the boat.

After dinner I snapped a few pictures of other boats and as the sun was going down. We had a few laughs and a few drinks. It was time to wait for the fireworks to begin.

Our little family

I wanna know what that kind of life is like. I want a tv, air conditioning and money to burn and live with a boat like that for a while. LOL

The DNR boat.

The barge with all of the fireworks.

Red being funny.

Getting closer to darkness. Yay!

I thought this was kind of a cool picture.

Seriously, does life get better than this? Seriously?

It's not a party without a disco light. LOL

Time for fireworks. Dang, it got cold and we didn't bring any extra clothes. Thankfully, we have a sleeping bag on board. Todd, Will and I all bundled up together.

The fireworks ended about 10:30 and we made our way back up the river to our marina. Poor Will was out cold.

Nothing more fun than finger painting with a 2 year old

Oh boy! LOL

After today's record 4 hour nap, I promised Will he could paint. And boy, did he. I think he made 6 new paintings.

This painting stuff takes extreme concentration.

Look, mommy. Green paint on mine fingers!

Getting more into it

And then he discovered that it's more fun to paint his face. LOL

And threaten to touch me with his paint covered hands.

Little stinker had a great time. And a long bath afterwards.

Will-isms

This post will have to continually be updated as I remember more and more funny things this kid says. He cracks me up all the time these days. He'll get fixated on something we've done or something he's seen and he'll talk about it for weeks. Laughing

Here are a few off the top of my head....

"Will put hand in water, Will touch a ray" We took him to the Aquarium of the Smokies in Feb and he's still talking about it. And for the record - he was scared of the rays and refused to actually put his hand in the water. LOL

"Will ride Ta Train (Thomas) on him tracks!" We took Will to the Day out with Thomas in Chattanooga 2 weeks ago (see blog with pictures). Also he'll say "Will have 1 ticket ride Ta Train!"

We went on the boat a few weeks ago and he's still talking about that, too. "Will push Daddy in water" "Daddy fall off boat" "Daddy drive boat all fast".

Then when we got back to the marina, he got to feed dog food to the carp. ICK - they have a bag of dog food there just for feeding the nasty things. I told Will they were icky-nasty. "Will feed dog food to icky fish" "Will jump in water with icky fish" "Mommy puke Will jump in icky fish" I told him I'd throw up if he fell in. LOL

They had a petting zoo at the Thomas's day out. Will wouldn't pet or feed the animals (of course). Now he's telling everyone "baby goat bit me" "big sheep scared me" "big sheep eat Drew". My brother, Andrew, wasn't even there. LOL

I was visiting with a friend when we were in Atlanta. I was holding the friend's 4 month old. "Baby GET OFF MY MOMMY!!!" He did NOT like me holding baby Abby.

Last week we were in the car ad I smashed my finger while putting the car in park (WTF?). He said "Mommy hurt, Will kiss it all better". Melted me - so I responded with "Will, you are so sweet, I love you SO MUCH!" and he responded with "Will love Mommy SO MUCH, TOO!" I like to have died right there on the spot. Now that's his new thing - "Will love mommy so (pronounced "oh") much.

Finished it in less than 24 hours

If you haven't read anything by Jen Lancaster, you are sorely missing out. www.jennsylvania.com She's my hero. I've been chomping at the bit for her newest book to come out. I bought it on Friday night and finished it Saturday night.

I recommend you check it out.

Between the projectile dog poop, the references to www.icanhascheezburger.com and her food issues - I have officially named her my hero. :)

It's berry pickin' time

I decided for Mother's Day that I wanted to go to Maple Lane Farms and pick strawberries. Last year we had a really bad freeze in April, so we never went. I was so happy to go and pick berries.

Okay, Daddy let's go!

Only it rained all night Saturday night and Sunday morning. So, let's just say the strawberry patch was a bit muddy. Okay, it was abandon your shoes that now weigh 30 lbs and walk in the muck, sucking between your toes muddy. It was great! LOL You can see the mud all over my feet already - and we'd just gotten there.

Will DID not and I repeat DID NOT like the mud at first. He fell one time while he was already angry that there was mud on his shoes. Then he had mud on one of his hands. This pissed him off.

One we lost the shoes, we were doing a lot better.

Will wandered down to the end of the row to check out the standing water.

Todd's "artistic" strawberry pictures - as he calls them.

I told you it was muddy!

Todd and I picked strawberries - while Will ate as many as he could stuff in his mouth. LOL

11 pounds of strawberries, $17 and 3 sets of muddy feet and one trashed newspaper later, we headed back home.

On the way there, we passed a lots of farm animals, cows, horses, goats and even some donkeys. We had to stop and snap a few pictures of the donkeys. One of them started braying at us. Will covered his eyes because it was so loud and it scared him. Then he spent the rest of the day "Hee-hawing" like a donkey.
