Well, I managed to weasel out of my appt w/ my diabetes specialist today by calling in sick. And convinced them to let me just email in my blood sugar numbers. It saved me an expensive co-pay and an hour drive round trip. Not to mention finding someone to watch Will or letting him loose in UTMC.
So, Jo called back after reviewing my numbers.
Insulin, here I come. She's calling in a prescription for a 2nd type of insulin (the long lasting kind) and I'm going up to 3 injections a day, PLUS the 1500 mg of Metformin I'm already on. Fast acting insulin with breakfast and dinner and slow release at bedtime.
The slow release stuff overnight scares the crap out of me - esp. with Todd overseas. I'm so worried about my blood sugar plummeting and blacking out while there's no one else here. I'm going to have to be really, really vigilant about watching the clock and making sure I eat enough and do it on time.
Sigh...............only 18 or so more weeks to go. Maybe this little guy will hook me up and come 2-3 weeks early and help me out. Just not too early.
